2012– 2013 WISCONSIN HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The Economic Support Division is taking applications for the 2012-2013 Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program. Sheboygan County residents who need help with their heating or electric bills should call 459-3207 for an appointment. Office hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance eligibility is based on the total gross income of all household members during the preceding three months, the 2012-2013 income limits are as follows:

Household of 1: $6,071
Household of 2: $7,939
Household of 3: $9,806
Household of 4: $11,674
Household of 5: $13,542
Household of 6: $15,410

Income limits increase as family size increases.

Applications must provide verification of the following information for all household members, including minors:

- Social Security Numbers
- Alien registration cards (if applicable)
- Gross Wages
- All unearned income
- Account numbers for your heat and electric bills
- An ID for the primary person

If heat is included in the rent, the name and address of the landlord

Energy Assistance

Wisconsin’s Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) provides assistance for heating costs, electric costs, and energy crisis situations. The program is operated by local social and human service agencies.

Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance (WHEAP) Heating Assistance is a one-time payment each heating season (October 1 through May 15). It is intended to help pay a portion of heating costs and does not pay the total annual heating cost.
